I would guess it has, but would that have happened with an SEC slot - probably 'yes' with a B1G slot.

In any case, if you are last in conference payout, you'd better be a premium academic conference. Assuming VT had unrestricted mobility (which we don't), why would VT not choose the best combination of academics, sports, and payouts?

I do know that the ACC is a double-edged sword: payouts stink, and our football schedules stink. The latter factor might hurt our revenues just as much as the payout deficits.
