Couple of ways IMHO


1) If you want a career outside of college...it is freestyle, so if you have it as part of your program, not only do you attract stronger recruits but you get mat time and matches between seasons.
2) Freestyle demands more aggressive offense particularly in the neutral position - e.g., takedowns. And it creates a wrestler that has more command of his body and balance.
