QUITE reasonable. THIS is a very real possibility.
Anyhow, there are a couple of things that Texas might find more appealing about the B1G or Pac12 than the SEC. They could value the better academic rep of B1G schools. Additionally, the B1G currently pays out more money, not that it's a huge deal considering Texas' having more than enough money.
Texas would also rule the roost if they were in the Pac12. The lesser payouts by the Pac12 aren't all that big a deal for them. Their addition alone would add value to the Pac12 anyhow. Culturally, Texas folks tend to relate more with their out west brethren from places like Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and Cali. And oh, the Pac12 might very well allow them to keep the LHN. Easy contract negotiation. Texas would keep the content it already owns for that network and then receive a smaller share of Pac 12N. Bingo Bango.
Furthermore, I think if the Big12 disentegrates and the Power 4 becomes a reality, there will likely be a bit of working together on this thing in order to keep the balance of power a little more even. It's important for all parties that college sports remain relevant nationwide. It's important that it remains relevant in places like California and New England. Thus, there may be a push to send powers like Texas and Oklahoma out west. Really. It means a lot to Bama and Ohio State that people in such places are also interested in watching their games. This new P4 is gonna look a lot more like the NFL than the current FBS IMO. Gonna be run in a similar way too. This is a good thing. More money in it for everyone. This will also help tremendously with the making of reasonable rules and reasonable enforcement.
ACC is not happening. It's a distant fourth option [Post edited by chuckd4vt at 05/11/2017 7:32PM]
