But taking Navy to help entice Notre Dame is foolish

The ACC has already taken Boston College, Pitt and Syracuse as part of an effort to make the ACC more attractive to Notre Dame and Penn State, and all that has accomplished is add a bunch of schools that don't care too much about football, aren't a cultural fit and aren't competitive in several sports over the long haul.

The Naval Academy is a great institution. I strongly considered going there, or West Point. But what does Navy have in common with any of the ACC schools? Very, very little. It's a high caliber academic institution, which fits with Duke and UVa, but the ACC is an athletic conference. This is not 1963 and Roger Staubach is not taking snaps for the Midshipmen anymore.

I love Navy, love Annapolis, love seafood and all that, but Navy has no business being in a power conference. The ACC already has too many programs that don't belong in a power conference. It doesn't need one more.
