I've spent a lot of time on the Texas board. The fans care.
They are much more interested in seeing Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, etc. come into their stadium than Pittsburgh, Boston College, Wisconsin, or Nebraska.
Texas would also be crazy to be stuck playing 7:00 PST games. They could consider the PAC12, but that would definitely diminish their profile in the state. And to do so the PAC12 would probably have to sell the PAC12 Network to ESPN. No such transaction would be required for the SEC. SEC is an ESPN property for media rights as is Texas.
They could come to the ACC, but I don't think Texas would ever like the ACC. I like the ACC and don't want a destabilizing force like that. I think they would work in the SEC with all of their historical rivalries with them. Many think they want to be separated from Texas A&M. I think both Texas and Texas A&M will realize it's best to be together. [Post edited by HOO86 at 05/11/2017 1:16PM]
