Could that same question apply to any of the other "blue bloods"
that exist today? They have built their brands over the years, but has it been built to stand the test of time? For some schools (i.e. Clemson, FSU, and Da U), they didn't join the club until the late 70s/early 80s. So is their brand just as strong (or stronger) than a school that built its brand before WWII? I realize that majority of the members are large state schools with large fanbases. However, fans can be fickle at times. If 'Bama went through a "down period" that is similar as what Da U is currently experiencing, then would its brand be only knocked down 1 notch or is there a possibility it could be knocked down 2-3 notches?
