According to the ACC's website, the sports that use the divisions
include the following: baseball, football, and men's soccer. In terms of reducing travel expense, I am still not sure how much of a difference it really makes in the grand scheme of things since majority of the non-revenue sports don't use divisions.
One thing I noticed is that Notre Dame is in the Atlantic for baseball and Coastal for men's soccer. If the ACC has no problem with 1 school participating in both divisions (depending on the sport) in order to maintain balance between the divisions, then it could open the door where the ACC views division alignment for each sport independent of each other. In some regards that may not be such a bad thing because it could allow schools to build more rivalries with more schools. Some of the rivalries may be sports specific, but that wouldn't be any different than what currently exist. I believe most would consider the VT-Miami "rivalry" to be a football rivalry because it never developed in the other sports.
