I am not thrilled about the ACC having so many private universities

as members. However, when it comes to certain decisions made by the conference, academics could be given higher priority than athletics. One byproduct is that athletic revenue may take a hit compared to the other conference. Another byproduct is it is easier to show the hypocrisy when a school decides to put athletics first.

The interesting thing is the relationship it creates between the school and its fanbase. In general fanbases are more concern about athletics so it can create an interesting dynamic when a school goes against its fanbase's wishes and sacrifices athletics in the name of academics.
