You are correct that is typically how corporations work.


Even if Disney doesn't directly tell ESPN to cut the LHN, it doesn't mean that Disney couldn't indirectly force ESPN's hand. It would ultimately depend on how much bleeding Disney believes ESPN is doing under its current business model. If Disney believes it is a lot, then it could require ESPN to make drastic cuts. ESPN deciding to close all of its other HQs, laying off all the personnel that work there, and moving everything back to Bristol may not be enough to stop the bleeding. I am not sure ESPN deciding to stop covering the niche sports would be enough to stop the bleeding. If ESPN has made all those cuts and it is still not enough, then ESPN could be forced to look at its 2 networks (LHN and SECN) to see if there is any way it can keep both or be forced to drop 1 network.
