Then by that same logic the eastern powers wouldn't have


asked VT to join the conference. At the time Joe Paterno and Ernie Casale wanted to form a seven- or eight-team all-sports conference which would have consisted of BC, Syracuse, Rutgers, Temple, Penn State, Pitt, WVU, and maybe 1 other school. Out of those schools VT had history with only WVU and maybe Temple.

Like I said earlier if the commissioner of this new all-sports eastern conference had the same vision as Kramer, then it could have started out as 12 members by adding FSU, Miami, plus 3 more schools (which may or may not have included VT). Or at worse start out as 9 members by adding FSU and Miami. By adding those 2 FL schools Penn State would have never joined the Big Ten in 1989, FSU would have never joined the ACC in 1990, the Big East Football Conference would have probably never been created, and it is hard to say what impact (if any) it would have on the development of VT's athletic programs.
