It may depend on which 4 schools were picked.


Even though BYU is no longer a MWC member, it is probably more MWC than power conference given it is a member of a mid-major conference (West Coast) for all other sports. So I think those 4 schools would be fine with BYU. I realize the rest of the conference has issues with BYU.

Even though it doesn't expand the network footprint, Colorado State may be another school those 4 school could support. It is a public school, already close to Pac-12 academic standards, and the school appears to be making an effort to continue improving its academics. I do agree that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are Plan A. The 4 expansion schools may have 2 possibilities for Plan B.
