I just checked Bennett's O and D ppg for his coaching career. Over 11 years his teams have averages 65 ppg and allowed 57 ppg. This year's UVA team averages are 66 ppg and 56 ppg. So, right at the average for his whole coaching career. I think it's a function of his coaching philosophy. Generally I think if you limit possessions it's going to give teams with lesser talent a better chance to win. As a basketball fan, I find it painful to watch UVA play...it's not a style of play that I enjoy watching.
