I think sometimes the ref can impact how often he pulls that trigger.

He often sets up his double by backing up/circling to get guys to step into him.

If a ref gives him a stall warning early like in the ACC finals, it appears to alter how aggressive he is - which is basically the reverse of the intention of the stall rule.
