I still don't quite understand why the Ivy League made so much of

an effort to suppress football and to keep it suppressed. I understand it from a scholarship standpoint, but there are/were other DI conferences (i.e. Patriot League, MAAC, NEC, and Pioneer Football League) that participate in the DI-AA/FCS subdivision and not offer football scholarships. I could even understand the conference using an "academics first" argument, but it should also mean that all of the Ivy League sports are forbidden from participating in any postseason tournaments.

However, when the Patriot League, NEC, and PFL decided to participate in the FCS Playoffs (even before offering limited scholarships) the Ivy League's argument for keeping football out of any postseason tournaments made even less sense especially when comparing it to the conference's argument for why the other sports should be allowed to participate in postseason tournaments.
