True, but another key difference is

people will watch the "best" of lots of subgroups, if they have an emotional attachment - and the right marketing could develop that in ACC soccer. Lots of parents watch really bad kids sports games - obviously not for the talent, but for the attachment.

I like soccer and watch a game now and then, recognize a couple dozen MLS, EPL players by sight, plan around a few games WC, MNT, darbys etc. - but wouldn't say I'm a huge, huge fan.

However, it wouldn't take much of a push for me to start watching weeknight or Sunday afternoon ACC soccer - regardless of "talent". I mostly gave up pro football a while ago, even with better talent than college - it just wasn't as compelling as college, and weeknights it would definitely be better than some idiotic, fake reality or talent show that occupies that time period now.
