I don't think the ACC does that (wrestleback to 2nd).

I thought they used to randomize where the 5 and 6 seeds fell in the bracket. Since the 6 seed is often terrible and provides a good opportunity for bonus, it can be unfair that the 3 seed always gets that opportunity for MD/TF/F bonuses while the 1 and 2 seeds get a bye and (maybe) advancement points.

It looks like that didn't happen in 2016 (we had 3/6 and 4/5 matchups in weights without scratches), so I'm assuming that's still the case.
