I hate losing Dresser and as a fan is sucks but i get it . I am just a fan ( huge fan) ....I follow the team closely and and met most of the folks including Dresser. Seem like such good people...a high character group for sure. Here is my guess....

Dresser is a great salesman & Leader. I mean that very positively...I am a lifelong salesman I know. Great salesmen are great communicators. Great salesmen are unlike what most people think are very honest communicators.....they are great at setting expectations..."raising the bar".. getting more out of people than they know they think they are capable of. Way More often then not Dressers recruits out perform their rankings....thats because of the environment that has been created....its about the culture he created.

- I am sure the money is really good at Iowa St.... and I am sure being close to family is very important to him.
- He is built a great program at VA tech....he is reaping the rewards of all that hard work but like he says....he has got such good people underhim that are doing all the 'day to day'. As he puts it he is more of a GM type right now. I think he might be a little bored...( just a guess).
- Iowa st represents the opportunity to be a 'hero' again. To be the program savior...........compete with all those Iowa guys directly. With Iowa st hes got no place to go but UP!
- IMO He is very much like a serial entrepreniur in technology.....he loves building and create...new IMO...new start ups.......using his people skills. Thats what he is really good at. Connecting with wrestlers....coaches....recruiting....even the press likes that guy. In his mind ( my guess) ...Va tech is 'built'.....not much for him to do and he likes to be busy.

- My caveat is this......we have yet to produce a national champion....but the talent and the program is right there....so many great wrestlers that are close and have been close.....if things go right they could win in a team national championship in the next 2 - 5 years.....have an outside shot this year.......what he is leaving is the opportunity to be the 'Frank Beamer' of wrestling at Va tech. I really thing the wrestling program is about where the hokies football was in 1995 Sugar bowl team.....maybe slightly beyond.....but we are still not quit at the national championship game level of 1999 vs FSU.....there is one or two more steps he could take VA tech.

I think wrestling coaching is alot like NFL....there are coaching trees right? LOL.....it seems like that Roby is the guy here.....we are really going to miss Dresser for sure if he goes... but I do think there are some great pieces in place to keep it going for years to come.
