I'm a prof at VT, and I've interacted with many coaches here. I've never had one that was on top of his/her athletes for academics more than Oliver Weiss was. He suspended kids (for NCAA tournament games) for "poor grades" when they were still in good standing with my department.

Hell, two of the Germans on the 2007 Final Four team stayed here for graduate degrees.
