I don't either. That suggestion by the author was baffling.


I can think of about 10 other options for the ACC before Kansas. I've always assumed Kansas a good fit for the Big Ten or possibly the SEC.

I still go back to choosing between West Virginia, Connecticut, and Navy in the event that Notre Dame joins the ACC in football. Creating a fly over situation by adding just Texas would not work long term. Both the ACC and Texas would tire of such an arrangement.

To add Texas, the ACC would need to add half the Big XII and go to 20 to make it work. Texas would need to keep some of Texas' traditional rivals for them to remain happy. I don't know if the ACC wants to get that big. We should add from the nearby states of West Virginia, Connecticut, or Maryland otherwise and maintain geographic regional rivalries.
