Is VT sometimes too aggressive, and allow easy defensive take downs

Last year against NC State and tonight VT gave up late take downs by being aggressive at end of periods. Eastern coached teams seem to have this strategy to take advantage of this aggressiveness, i.e. letting their opponent make the first take down attempt while they are "almost stalling" and counter with a move to defensively slide into a back position take down. By not initiating a move or take down and not obviously stalling, which they have to an art form, they wait for the VT mistake. I know it is great to be aggressive but maybe not at the end of a match, or an overtime period, especially if you have no "stall warnings," play it safe and let the other guy make the mistake especially at the end of matches. I know this goes against a wrestler's natural tendency to be aggressive.
