Well, in fairness, I've come around and I'm man enough to admit

it appears I was wrong. It seems the important aspect is that a throw must be made to another base for it to be a true fielder's choice. A no throw always just seemed to be logically similar to me because in my eyes the fielder is making a choice to hold the lead runner even though he could have made the routine play at first for an out. I've never consulted scoring rules, only learned how to score as a kid from my dad and watched and scored enough games and thought I understood the logic enough to be an internet expert. The good news is I'm even more of an expert now than I was before these threads.

Aah - C clearly says runner, not batter. So it is a hit. ** -- public knowledge 01/26/2017 07:36AM
