Yes, and I believe indifference typically results in the fielder's choice


scoring (i.e. not a hit and ding on the batting average).

In youth baseball and softball the most common indifference play is 1st and 3rd situations when the runner steals 2nd but the catcher elects not to throw to prevent the lead runner from taking off for home. Due to fielder indifference, the runner at 1st does not get credit for a stolen base.
