You're wrong about sacrifice flys


Batters will try to intentionally hit fly balls in order to advance/score the runner on third. In the right situation, it's the right move. A base hit is obviously a preferable outcome, but a fly ball is the higher percentage play. It could fall for a hit and score the runner, or it could be caught for an out, and the runner still scores. That's not possible for a ground out or line drive out.
