Baseball scoring question

First, am I correct on how each of the following situations is scored?

Scenario 1:
Runner on second. No outs. Batter bunts. Pitcher fields it. Throws to first for the out. Runner at second advances to third. This is scored a sacrifice bunt.
So runner at third and one out.

Scenario 2:
Runner at second. No outs. Batter bunts. Pitcher fields it. Instead of throwing to first, pitcher holds it to keep runner from advancing to third. Runner safe at first and second. Scored a fielder's choice.
So first and second with no outs.

If my scoring thoughts are correct, the batter gets credit for a sacrifice with no harm to his batting average if he gets out at first, but gets a mark against his batting average for the exact same bunt because the pitcher did not throw in the second scenario. That does not seem right.

Yeah it seems like 2 wouldn't be fielders choice -- Manbearpig 01/25/2017 09:22AM
