The link is to the publisher's website, but you can probably find a cheaper price on Amazon or one of the parts supplier's websites. Do a Google search. I saw a (used-very good) paper copy on Amazon for $36. That would be my choice, since it's probably going to get dirty from use.

You should also buy your kids a metric tool set to work on it.

These are very straight forward machines, and I found them fairly simple to work on. If you (you meaning you & your kids) do the majority of the basic maintenance yourself, you can save a lot of what people pay dealerships. If you don't work on cars, I'm sure there are plenty of people in Blacksburg (like Pylons) who can probably assist with some instruction/supervision.
