There are several things....
1) more tracks in places that don't care about the sport
2) legacy drivers (the good ol' boys) are leaving / have left. Too many California boys like Johnson, Harvick, Amirola, etc.
3) changing the point system and creating a "playoff"
4) no originality in cars (gen 6 for example)
5) NASCAR is morphing into WWE
All of this is killing NASCAR.
Hopefully football doesn't go this route, but there are a lot of over-the-top safety rules, longer official reviews, multiple non-Sunday games and games out on the United States that raise a red flag that they could be following the same path as NASCAR
