I agree. Everything you said is spot on. The fan base is desperate for meaningful opponents and games, not sure where the administration is on this. For now the pres keeps trying to raise UConn's academic level with I assume an eye on getting into the AAU. Even if we never upgrade to a better sports conference, her primary job is making it as good an academic institution as she can.
As for the other sinking ship. It really is hard to tell if it's sinking or if there's a couple a-holes just rocking it. Sooooo many theories about who's tied to who and who will or won't leave, it's hard to know what to believe. I don't believe any of it. If UT and OU did leave, I assume some combo of the the leftover Big 12 pieces and AAC would make a better conference than what we're currently in.
For now we'll keep raising our academic profile, try to extol the virtues of tapping into CT, a market with no other collegiate competitors, tapping into New England where only a small private school exists as competition, and remind them we're in the #30 TV DMA with a fair percentage of our population in the NY DMA. If we could only win some football games :(
