I don't believe the MAC is an option for UConn. What the writer

doesn't take into account is that it appears the MAC has gotten out of the business of having football-only members. I say that because the MAC gave UMass an ultimatum in 2014; either join the MAC as a full member or leave. UMass decided to become a FBS Independent (as of this year).

It would seem odd for the MAC to go from not wanting football-only members back to willing to add football-only members in a short period of time. Especially if you consider that adding UConn as a football-only member would mean the MAC has 13 football members again and would be in violation of NCAA bylaws again; specifically I am referring to the round robin division requirement. There is no combination that allows for a division with 6 members and a division with 7 members to play a round robin division schedule and still be able to play the same total number of conference games. I believe most years the MAC had 2-3 teams that didn't end up playing a round robin division schedule. If the MAC was willing to add UConn and UMass as football-only members, then would UMass want to come back? Keep in mind that I believe UMass ultimately would like to join the AAC and be in the same conference as UConn and Temple. If UConn left the AAC for football-only membership in the MAC, then I could see UMass replacing UConn as full member in the AAC.
