The problem is that no one in NJ cares about college sports...

NYC is a pro town, so is Philly. The best talent leaves the state because when they go on official visits they find out that other places do care and they prefer it. To some degree, this is UMDs problem too, but it is not as bad - at least MD cares about Basketball.
