Leaders of the NC schools absolutely think of Virginia Tech as like minded.

I will say it again. UNC and Duke never wanted to end the small round robin basketball conference and they were against expansion in 2003 no matter the candidate.

Donna Shalala wanted BC and Syracuse because she gets way more OOS students from New York and Mass than Virginia. Virginia Tech was going to come later, we just worked our way in sooner rather than later with the help of Bill Goodwin and John Casteen.
