Ladies golf gets a 2nd place finish in Greensboro

From Hokiesports:

The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted a three-round total of 923 and finished in a tie for second place at the Starmount Forest Fall Classic on Tuesday. The Hokies jumped three spots in the final round for the second place tie in the field of 11 teams, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Hokies had a three-day total of 71-over par (321-303-299=923) to finish 10 strokes behind first-place Tennessee Tech (+61). Of note, the team’s third round total of 299 was the lowest score of the day.

Sophomore Elizabeth Bose paced the Hokie lineup, with back-to-back 1-over par 72 scores in the second and third round to place third overall (79-72-72=223). The Norfolk, Virginia, native tallied six birdies throughout the two-day event, marking her best finish as a Hokie.

Freshman Jessica Spicer shot 4-over 75 in the final round of competition, finishing with a three-day total of 80-75-75=230. This is also Spicer’s best finish in her young career.

Sophomore Anne Taylor Hough finished seven strokes behind Spicer, tying for 20th place overall with a 237. This is Hough’s first top 20 finish as a Hokie.

Senior Whitney Stevenson and redshirt sophomore Amanda Hollandsworth tied for 22nd place, each carding a three-day total of 238.
