It is my understanding that if a school wishes to maintain its land-grant

status then it must fulfill those requirements under the legislation it gained the land status under and possibly 1 of the subsequent legislations passed afterwards (not entirely sure). If VT can move the Ag program to Kentland Farm and maintain its land-grant status, then it would open up those lands for expansion.

If you are talking about the golf course on campus, then it was replaced by the Alumni Center (not sure if any other buildings have been built where it was located) and in 2005 the team started playing at the Pete Dye River Course near Radford. My overall point though is VT may not have an infinite amount of land to expand the campus. So at some point (maybe after my lifetime) the school may have to pick and choose how it uses the land.
