Pro golf watch 8/18 - 8/21

It is officially crunch time on the North American major tours. PGA Tour is in the final week of the regular season, the WCT has two more weeks in the regular season, and the Mackenzie Tour is into its stretch of final 4 events.

Been well documented below what BDJ needs to make happen this week to keep his Tour card. While best case scenario is he cracks top 3 and its enough to get him into the top 125, a more probable "good" scenario is he makes the cut and gets himself inside the top 150 and heads off to the WCT finals in a few weeks. The "bad" scenario is another missed cut.

JW took care of business last week with a T5 finish and is now playing to improve his position on the FedEx Cup standings. Currently sits in 109th. Top 100 advance to the 2nd playoff event.

Drew Weaver didn't move from his 97th spot on the WCT moneylist after a mid-pack finish last week. Could really use a pair of top 15 finishes to close out the regular season to break into that top 75 before the finals.

All three Mackenzie Tour Hokies are in the field again this week. Scott Vincent sits in 15th on the moneylist, trying to get back on track after his 3rd missed cut of the season a few weeks ago. Trevor Cone had his best finish since week 2, a T22 moving him up to 49th on the moneylist. Blake Redmond looking for his first cash on tour this season.

Jurrian van der Vaart is off to a rough start on the ECT in Switzerland. In a limited field 42 person event, he current sits in 40th with his 2nd round still to come today. He has slipped to 23rd on the moneylist after 3 straight missed cuts. Also, there's a reasonable chance he'll be selected to represent team Netherlands at the World Cup of Golf in November. Joost Luiten is the golfer that earned a spot for the Dutch, and JvdV is essentially 1 of the 2 likely options for Luiten will choose from as his partner.

Finally, Maclain Huge getting some work in on the mini tours the last few weeks. On the Carolinas based GPro Tour, he finished 7th a few weeks back. Not faring as well this week, but good to see him out there.

Go Hokies!
