Still hoping for the long-shot Tulane over Memphis


at least the possibility is starting to pick up some steam..

BYU and Cincy are locks.

The next question, to me, is whether BYU needs a western partner. IMHO the answer is no, since they have a national following and they're relatively close to some of the western-most Big 12 members already.

Assuming UConn and the directional Florida schools are thrown out due to geography, I think that means the final slot in a 4-team expansion is a 2-team horse-race between Memphis & Tulane.

Tulane has to hope the AAU angle is talked up as often as possible in the coming months. Getting into the New Orleans market is a plus but Memphis is also in SEC country and in a similar situation as a draw for major events etc (obviously if Texas wants in on the New Orleans market for recruiting, that's a big plus). But really it's all about academics. I really believe Tulane can become a real player if the conversation heads in that direction. We'll see.
