I understand and given the current landscape it makes sense

why Notre Dame opted for this route. However, landscapes can change (sometimes even multiple times). So when the current GoR expires in 20 years, the landscape could be vastly different and Notre Dame could decide it is time to go the BYUTV route or even become affiliated with another conference's network.
