Remember? I was at that game

There were about 20,000 or so Nebraska fans. Nice folks.

Nebraska was up two touchdowns and its fans were feeling pretty good.

Then, Julius Jones ran a kickoff back 100 yards for a TD and Joey Geatherall ran a punt back 83 yards for a touchdown to tie the game.

Nebraska fans were stunned. I saw the looks on their faces. ND Stadium was electric.

ND held late in the fourth quarter and got the ball back around its 40 with 1:09 left and two timeouts.

Nebraska was the #1 team in the country and ND had them on the ropes for the kill.

ND had a great kicker and all it needed was about 35 yards.

What did Bob Davie do? He had his QB take a knee three times and go into overtime.

The crowd went nuts. I went nuts. Nebraska won the overtime 7-3.

When asked why he took a knee, Davie said "Miracles were not going to magically fall out of the sky."

ND fans wanted to kill him and he was gone after the 2001 season.

Yes, I remember that damn game.
