Notre Dame is only locked into joining the ACC football conference

until the current GoR expires. Once it expires Notre Dame could opt to not renew it and decide to "test the free agency waters" to see if there is a better deal out there.

Honestly, I don't think Notre Dame will ever become a full member of any the current FBS conferences. So I wouldn't be shocked if Notre Dame announced it was leaving the ACC when the GoR expires and becoming a full member of a non-FBS conference or even become a true Independent for all sports. The only way I could see Notre Dame becoming a full member of a FBS conference is if the membership of the conference was truly coast to coast.
