Tech likely would have had an offer from the SEC.

if Tech would have had to wait until September 18, 2011 to accept an offer to join the ACC with Pitt. Texas A&M was being courted by the SEC during the summer of 2011 and finally decided to join the SEC on September 25, 2011, a week after the ACC added Pitt and Syracuse.

It is very possible that the SEC would've aggressively went after Tech over Missouri. Tech made more sense geographically and culturally than Mizzou. What would Tech's attitude towards the ACC have been like if they were turned down by the ACC in 2003 for BC and Syracuse? That would've meant another 8 years in the Big East. Would Tech have seriously considered a SEC offer? Nobody here truly knows that answer, but it would appear to me and to others on this board that Tech would have been the SEC's #14 during the late summer of 2011.
