More info on jim pinzino
This is from the Oklahoma University sports website background on him before he left:
"Oklahoma head baseball coach Pete Hughes named Jamie Pinzino as the program’s assistant baseball and pitching coach on December 3, 2013. Pinzino, a 13-year veteran in the collegiate ranks and seven-year head coach, arrived in Norman after a one-year stint as head coach at William & Mary, preceded by one year as an assistant for the Tribe.
Pinzino took over a pitching staff that returned just 29% of its conference innings from 2013 to 2014. For 2015, the Sooners return 82% of conference innings pitched and a wealth of experience. Last season, Pinzino’s bullpen was one of the best in the Big 12 with a collective 3.48 earned run average and 2.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
In only his first season, Pinzino saw two pitchers drafted in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Right-hander Connor Buchman (Mets, 11th round) signed a pro contract, while left-hander Adam Choplick (White Sox, 32nd) returned to the OU rotation."
Not bad at all. Something tells me he will be a major factor in any success we have over the next couple of years. Seems like a very good hire!
