I think everyone minus the SEC is delusional.

Population, markets, recruiting territory? Passion is where it matters, although everyone has been blind-sided by Delany and Swofford's mindgames.

The ACC grabbed SU, BC and Pitt for Northeast population, markets and recruiting. In reality, no one cares about college football up there outside of PSU and they're spoken for.

Same to be said with the B1G adding SUNJ and UMCP. Not much passion there but at least they were both flagship / land grant universities that could grow a decent fanbase if they became successful. But even then, the B1G would have fared better taking UNL, Mizzou and Kansas... at least those 3 schools lie within states that care about college sports.

The SEC has more success with Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas schools than the ACC has with MA, NY and PA and more success than the B1G does with NJ and MD.

The B1G really whiffed on Mizzou and Kansas, but hit a homerun with the Huskers. The ACC has whiffed on everything since adding Tech and Miami but even Miami feels like a whiff these days
