Maryland is a little of both...

Living there for 3 decades, the I-95 corridor (DC suburbs and Baltimore area) is definitely North. I lived in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Carroll County. Carroll County isn't any different than Adams and York counties Pennsylvania. Western Maryland is like western PA and northern WV and the lower Eastern Shore (Easton-Salisbury) has a "southern" feel except for Ocean City area. South of Waldorf and Chesapeake Beach (Charles, St Mary's and Calvert counties never felt like "North" to me. Maryland is just one confused state.
