Nebraska recruiting depends more on Texas and California or.

did in the past when they were a national powerhouse. Nebraska recruits nationwide. I remember them recruiting Nebraska mainly for OL and LB's.

Just from looking at their 2016-17 football roster, it appears that they have less Texans than they once had. Maybe leaving the Big 12 resulted in less Texas players? Nebraska always got speed position players from California, Florida, and other southern and eastern states. It looks like they still do from their present roster.

Here's Nebraska's roster by state:
61 from Nebraska. I assume many are walk-ons
10 from California
9 from Louisiana
8 each from Florida and Texas
7 from Missouri
6 from Colorado
5 from Illinois
3 from Georgia
2 each from AZ, IA, KS, MN, NV, NJ, and SD.
1 each from IN, MD, MA, MI, NY, OH, OK, TN, VA, WA, WI, and Ontario.

To be honest, it looks like a typical Nebraska football roster except for the decrease in players from Texas. Nebraska has a rich football tradition, a loyal fan base which travels nationwide, and a great stadium to play in. IMHO, all Nebraska needs is the right head coach to be playing for national championships again. The foundation is already there.
