July 1 may not even be the deadline...


...the ACC may have agreed to an extension in order to iron out contractual details. Happens all the time.

Further, I have not read the current contract, but most negotiations are done under strict confidentiality/no publicity terms. That is to say, the ACC might be seriously constrained in what they can say, so why say anything? Just wait for the deal to close and then do the announcement.
