TV has driven expansion. It may very well drive contraction.

Right now, football drives the bus. In 15/20 years, it may not. As you pointed out, the barbaric nature of football may cause parents to steer their kids toward other less violent sports. Viewer demand for football is high now. Might not be 25 years from now.
