Speaking of Notre Dame... what happens after 2025?

The agreement between Notre Dame and the ACC requires ND to play 5 games annually (on average) thru 2025. Most ACC teams get 4 games with the Irish, a few get 5 games. Then what?

Is there an understanding or expectation that Notre Dame continue to play football games against ACC teams ad infinitum as long as they are conference members? Of would ND be allowed to return to full football independence? I certainly hope not.

While it is a unique relationship... it has benefited the ACC a great deal so far (as well as benefiting ND). The 2014 ND @ FSU game was one of the biggest games of the season, helping to propel the 'Noles to the CFP. The 2015 ND @ Clemson... same deal! Both games were bright spotlights for ACC teams and thrilling, national TV games.

Also... Louisville beat ND in South Bend in '14 and Virginia's heartbreak in '15 was national news. Over this 12 year stretch... I think we will see some rivalries develop a bit with ACC teams. Even better, as these rivalries develop we will hear less about Michigan and other B1G teams that used to be propped up by their games with ND.

If the ACC goes back to 9 conference games, plus keeps the ND games rolling... that will be some good inventory of games.
