been repeated so many times that most folks in this board consider it fact. However the University of Florida would absolutely sponsor the addition of FSU, just as UVA came to the aid of VT. The difference is that Florida knows the rest of the conference would not approve FSU but make it look like the Gator's tried to help.

The primary reason FSU will not go to the SEC is location. The Noles sit right in the middle of SEC territory and add nothing to enhance either TV/media revenue or Recruiting. FSU already recruits well against the SEC. I'm pretty sure the schools in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi do not want to give FSU any added recruiting advantage. Any attempt to add FSU would be DOA with or without Florida's vote.

Also, the SEC has some history with FSU that still bothers many schools in the conference. While still a football independent, FSU sent out feelers to the SEC about joining the Conference. Those overtures were immediately rejected by the SEC office due to U fo F's objections.
In 1990 the SEC learned of FSU's interest in the ACC, the SEC invited FSU to submit an application to join and FSU sort of played the ACC and SEC against each other. When FSU's first vote to join the ACC failed, the SEC then backed away leaving FSU in "Limbo Land". Later that evening a second vote in the ACC went FSU"s way.
I know times and circumstances have changed, but if FSU leaves the ACC (which they won't) it would be to go to the B12.
