Proximity for traveling fans is nearly irrelevant imo


Firstly, nobody from the NC schools except NCSU seemed to travel to VT games, and we rarely play NCSU. In any case, you can't build a conference strategy around ease of travel for the 5,000 or so fans that show up as visitors.

It is far more important to provide compelling matchups so that HOME fans actually show. I'm talking about the folks who make huge donations to earn the right to buy season tickets. Wake and Duke games are not well-attended by home or visiting fans at Lane. BC is just as bad. Nobody will show for UCONN - nobody - but WVU would be packed.

Miami might be the furthest school from Blacksburg but those games are always well-attended. Not by Canes fans, but that is irrelevant to me.

Lastly, I dislike so much of the conference activity happening in North Carolina. ACCCG, tourneys, conference HQ, etc. Why should NC reap so much benefit from the ACC? How about ACC HQ in Herndon, for example? It exaggerates an already inflated sense of importance of the 4 NC schools. Enough already.
