Re: If I'm a B1G or SEC fan, I would take the time now to enjoy

I disagree with nothing in your post as to how it relates to the college football landscape of 2016. However I just think there are things in the offing that may very well drastically change that present conference landscape. I know the 4 North Carolina schools are the ACC, I mean that in relation to they are not going anywhere until the ACC no longer exists. The two Virginia schools stand with the North Carolina schools to a point but not to that ACC to the death reality. I don't think the SEC will ever take Clemson. Conference network state footprints and South Carolina will never allow Clemson into the SEC. I don't think any of the schools that far south of the Mason-Dixon Line are ever going to the B1G either. Florida State is the key. If the SEC should decide to take FSU. That will put the two Virginia schools looking for an ACC exit. One would probably go to the SEC, the other to the B1G. As you said, VT will be OK.

The B12 has two schools that would appeal to any conference, Texas & Oklahoma, nothing much more. I could see the B1G taking Kansas for basketball, a Rutgers for TV viewers type thing. Oklahoma is probably eventually coming to the SEC, Oklahoma State and the GOR are somewhat obstacles but Boren isn't griping publicly so much for nothing. Texas has that LHN locked into contract with ESPN until 2031. Texas with that $15 million per year ESPN cut on the LHN along with their cut of the B12 money is still making more money than the SEC schools & B1G schools at the present time. As you properly referred to as well. Texas doesn't get along well in conferences. Texas knows that and they will probably never join a conference. Texas will go Independent. I can never see Texas in the SEC along with the Alabama schools and Florida.

I think there may eventually be something else in play here besides the ever widening money disparity between the SEC & B1G and some of the other P5 conferences. It has to do with SEC conference commissioner legacies. Roy Kramer had his legacy with the creating of the Conference Championship Game and the additions of Arkansas & South Carolina into the SEC. Mike Slive had his legacy with initiating and creating the SEC Network and adding Texas A&M & Missouri into the SEC. I really never thought Slive was real pro-active in SEC expansion but he is now gone anyway. That brings in Greg Sankey. Sankey is just now getting his feet wet. However what happens in a few years when he perhaps starts thinking legacy? Let's also say he is more a tiger on the SEC progressive front like Kramer instead of Slive. All Sankey has to do is pick up the phone and call Florida State, Sankey then has his legacy. Conference commissioners have the power to persuade reluctant members as the Gators to the benefit of the SEC. I have seen that.

I think the final college football landscape will be four conferences. SEC, B1G, P12 and the joined remnants of the ACC and B12 forming the fourth.
