I have a co-worker who is a Mizzou fan. He is originally from the state,


but I think went to another school for college. After the SEC announced the addition of Mizzou, I asked him one time whether this put an end to Mizzou's dream of joining the Big Ten some day. According to him, he said the old leadership was definitely pro-Big Ten. However, after personnel changes in the leadership positions (i.e. President, BoV, etc.) Mizzou's leadership had become significantly less pro-Big Ten and significantly more pro-SEC.

Hence Mizzou's decision to quickly approach the SEC about joining the conference after the SEC announced the addition of TAMU. He thought the only way Mizzou would be interested in joining the Big Ten is if there was another change of personnel in those leadership positions that swung the pendulum back the other way.
