If # of viewers and academics are what the president's want.
then there aren't that many logical additions in the eastern time zone.
UConn is ranked highly in most academic rankings. Cincinnati is #50 in the NSF's research rankings. South Florida is ranked #40 (right behind Tech) in the research rankings. UAB is #48.
The ACC already has the state of Florida covered with 2 members. Alabama-Birmingham brings nothing and is a distant #3 in state fan support. Cincinnati's fan base is pretty much the Cincinnati metro area, but Ohio State still dominates in that area.
UConn is the most logical choice. Connecticut has about the same population as Oklahoma. It has a larger population than Utah, Mississippi, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, and West Virginia. Those 7 states have a total of 10 Power 5 members or 15.4% of the P-5 membership. UConn is located between Boston and New York. UConn has quality academics. They are their state's flagship and land grant university. They have a loyal fan base. They have proven that they can win NCAA team national championships. with 21 which ranks 27th among 347 D-1 schools. [Post edited by Old Line Hokie at 06/03/2016 1:33PM]
